CROSS SECTIONS
The Cross Section Drawings were created automatically.
All the information used to generate these drawings came from the floor plans. Simply specify
the floors, select a cut line and SoftPlan automatically creates the Cross Section.
Left Image
This is a completed cross section detail drawing. As with elevations most of this detail was automatically
generated from the floor plan. The more detail added to the floor plan the better the cross section.
Centre Image
These details were created using the click and drag drawing tools provided for section detail. Notes have been
added, many from the speed note libraries provided.
Right Image These are the cross
section detail tools, where a simple select, draw a box and edit to exact size is all that is required. No more
drawing details line by line. Once drawn can be saved as a symbol ready to be used again and again.
The drawing
generated is quite detailed. Walls are drawn in their exact location and are detailed to the specification of the
particular wall type. For instance, the exterior walls were 90 x 38 frame with brick veneer. They have brick
exterior, an air space and are plasterboard lined.
Cross sections are automatically drawn with these
details. Joists are placed according to the joist layouts for each floor. The support posts, footings and concrete
slabs were created automatically from the plan information. If the cut line intersects an opening, appropriate sill
and lintel information is also included.
All of these details remain editable. Should some detail
not be generated to specification, then a quick click of the mouse allows you to redefine the object.
Once the Section drawing was created, detailing notes
were added either by typing the note or by using the Speed Note Libraries. Repetitive notes, such as wall details,
may be saved in the libraries and used over and over, with just a click of the mouse.
Cross Section details are provided in a pre-drawn
"object" format, so there is no need to draw using simple lines in most cases.
