| Kealakehe High School Drafting Technology Students win State-wide competition in House Design |
| Kealakehe High School students swept the Hawaii state competition on house design for a second consecutive year. The HTEA (Hawaii Technology Education Association) honored competition entries from three Kealakehe High school students in the CAD (Computer-Aided Design) House Design competition on April 6th at the Blaisdell Center on Oahu. |
| Nicole Ferner placed first with a 250 m2 (2,700 square-foot), 4-bedroom, single-story house design for a local customer. Ruth Alou placed second with a 370 m2 (4,000 square-foot), 2-story house that may be built in the Kona area. And Chance Carpenter placed third with a complicated 325 m2 (3,500 square-foot), 2-story house design with a detached living space. |
| Students completed their 3D house designs using the Softplan Architectural House design software provided to the school through private grants. Their house designs included detailed floorplans, electrical systems, a foundation, a roof and ceiling system, and interior architectural details. Designs were completed to local building codes and specific customer requirements. |

| AIA Educational Programs |
SoftPlan is pleased to announce that for the 2005 calendar year, SoftPlan Systems has been approved as a recognized AIA CES Provider for the following regions: New England (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont) and East North Central ( Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin). Each class is will count as 6 hrs towards the Mandatory Continuing Education (MCE) requirements of the AIA. SoftPlan classes are already accredited for the AIBD continuing education programs. |
