Before being introduced
to SoftPlan I was a firm advocate of AutoCad.
I had been using AutoCad in various employments positions for over six years
and had even “mastered the task of 3D” views for small home renovation
projects.
In 2004 our company purchased
SoftPlan Version 12 complete with SoftList and SoftPlan Review modules.
Our company specializes in Attic conversions as well as renovations and additions
projects to domestic houses.
The ability of SoftPlan
to generate 3D at any time in the design development of these projects has continually
assisted in the rapid progress of the designs for our clients - something we
could not do previously.
At the moment with our latest group of new clients, 3D is turning out to be
the greatest asset particularly in the very early stages of the design process.
SoftList for our estimators has meant instead of taking hours to create material
lists ready for costing and ordering it now takes a matter of minutes.
SoftPlan’s major strength for our company is the ability to customize every facet of the program both in the drafting mode and the reporting in SoftList – something that in design and construction of renovations and additions is paramount.
SoftPlan Version 13’s
introduction for our company has opened the opportunity to start stretching
the limit with the type and size of projects we pursue.
The improvements in V13 are huge, it is almost a totally new package with every
item you wished for and more and for the direct user time wise is vastly more
efficient than V12 – you will not want to go back to AutoCad ever again.
The ability of V13 to generate
instant shadow diagrams is absolutely magic and as with the 3D capabilities,
can be fully customized to be site specific and can begin generating shadow
diagrams at any time in the development of a design.
Personally I think this program is great, especially when you have clients who
struggle with understanding 2D - and don’t we all deal with those clients
on nearly every project.

I have used SoftPlan for about two years. I started with no drafting experience at all, so I was learning both a software package and the skills / methodology of drafting (tough gig)
I have found SP to be very easy to use and learn compared with other packages . I also believe it is the fastest residential 3D modeling package on the market today. The improvements of V13 are fantastic and enhance ‘hands on’ usability of the package. If you have drafting skills or had some experience with mainstream cad packages, you will find SP so simple.
For builders wanting to design their own homes or drafts people wanting speed and a competitive edge SP is the answer.
Thanks again Cadbuild, for the great phone and online support.

Courtney Dalton.

As a full time Architectural & Structural Draftsperson I use SoftPlan Day in-Day out. I find SoftPlan extremely easy to use and being such a Building orientated drawing program, I can focus more of my time designing rather than remembering how the software works. I recommend SoftPlan to anyone who has to design a structure (of any size) and Design it FAST.

I have been using Softplan for several years.
It allows you to modify your design with ease, should you desire to add or remove
windows, doors or even complete rooms. I highly recommend this product and the
after sales service, which is second to none.

We have had no hiccups with the latest upgrade
/ addition to our CAD system.
We are running 2 computers networked together. In the past we have had very
little trouble with SoftPlan.
The ease in which Lynda
(my secretary) adapted to learning the program was quiet amazing . After 12
months she has finally picked up the book, but only to learn how to build her
own libraries.
It must be a really
good program and easy to learn as Lynda new nothing about houses, or drafting,
and now is able to do plans ready to submit to council.
