By using a highlighter for this example blue, then tracing over the plan that was imported in the form of a DXF, DWG drawing file, the footing material quantity can be measured.

Edit
Once the item has been traced values such as height and width can be edited to reflect exact dimensions.

Result
The results of the calculations are produced in a spreadsheet like report that can be exported to estimating or accounting programs.

The material take off mode can be used for measuring any item, from plans, elevation or cross sections. Some items that can be measured include, roof members (even on a pitch) tiling areas etc. Items can be counted using symbols from the symbol library.

Using a combination of highlighters and drawing tools accurate material quantities can be produced quickly and efficiently.
